Just 1 in 10 Americans consume the recommended daily value of fruits and vegetables in a day.

Yet, the United States is the global leader in food waste, with Americans discarding nearly 40 million tons of food every year. That’s 80 billion pounds of food and equates to more than $161 billion, approximately 219 pounds of waste per person and 30-40 percent of the US food supply. 





Our food system is broken

The abundance of unhealthy processed foods and unbalanced lifestyles has led to an explosion of preventable chronic illnesses. Chronic diseases associated with obesity and Type 2 Diabetes are responsible for two out of every three deaths in America. Excess weight and obesity affect two-thirds of all American adults and 37 million children. 29 million Americans are diabetic and another 86 million are prediabetic — a total of 36% of the U.S. population.

Doing Good with Feel Good Food

Every purchase of Real Food Bars goes to supporting organizations within the community that do good. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve dedicated resources and in-kind donations directly to those most in need – including nursing homes, youth programs, food banks and frontline care workers at hospitals. Our personal story

Anna and Sean started making food bars as meal replacements on busy days. Anna was frustrated that food was often spoiled due to poor planning and Sean lacked the necessary nutrition to fuel his day (resulting in the dreaded hangry).

Most bars just didn’t make the cut. They were filled with processed or artificial sweeteners or lacking in real food nutrients. When Anna was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, she realized just how important the food we consume is for overall health so the bars were built to be allergen friendly, anti-inflammatory and good for sensitive tummies. After two years of product development and a broken food processor along the way, Real Food Bars are the ideal mix of nutrition, taste and zero waste. 

Since starting it as a side hustle, Anna quit her corporate job to pursue Real Food Bar full-time. She loves partnering with other mission-driven businesses and seeing them succeed as well. When not selling bars, Sean and Anna love exploring the outdoors, traveling and learning together.
